This week, The Philadelphia Inquirer published a feature spotlighting Custom Mobile Food Equipment and the story behind our Hammonton, NJ shop — 74 years of building hand-crafted, stainless-steel food carts, trucks, and trailers that show up everywhere from Jersey Shore boardwalks to Disney World, SeaWorld, and U.S. military bases overseas.
Reporter Joseph N. DiStefano toured our facility and talked with Vice President David Kyle about what’s kept a third-generation, family-run business rolling through decades of changing food trends, rising material costs, and increased competition from cheaper imports. As Kyle put it in the piece, the answer comes down to trust in the product:
“People rely on us to turn out a product that will last.”
The article details our roots with founder William Sikora’s original pony cart in Camden, to the custom-built vehicles now powering national brands like Wild Bill’s Craft Beverage Co., and Manco & Manco Pizza’s new stadium-ready food truck. It also touched on some of our recent larger-scale projects, including the 32 commercial kitchens we built for Carnival Cruise Line’s Calypso Lagoon in the Bahamas.
Every cart and truck that leaves our Hammonton shop is still hand-fabricated — no two exactly alike — which is exactly the kind of craftsmanship that’s kept us in business since 1952. Getting recognized by one of the region’s biggest newsrooms for that legacy is a genuine honor.
